Khloe's Memorial Fundraiser ❤️
Last Tuesday, November 29th, our dear golden retriever Khloe passed away suddenly from a heart attack induced by a terminal blood cancer called hemangiosarcoma. Khloe was always a happy-go-lucky dog, and true to her breed’s name, was a golden ray of sunshine to everyone she met. We thought she was completely healthy until on Thanksgiving Day, she suddenly collapsed and was unresponsive. We rushed her to the hospital and she was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, a highly aggressive form of canine blood cancer that is often imperceptible and only diagnosed when it’s already too late. From the time of diagnosis to when we lost her to the heart attack, we only had 5 days to say goodbye.
My family and I are heartbroken and feel strongly about starting a fund in Khloe’s honor to raise money for research on canine hemangiosarcoma. Our hope is to help advance this research so that in the future other families won’t have to go through the pain that Khloe and our family went through.
One in five Golden Retrievers is diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma and 90% of dogs die within one year following a hemangiosarcoma diagnosis, despite surgery and chemotherapy. We have chosen to donate through the Morris Animal Foundation, which has supported hemangiosarcoma research for more than 20 years and now has its own Golden Retriever Lifetime Study to advance hemangiosarcoma research.
The Foundation hopes to use information from the Study to improve survival for dogs diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma and to identify risk factors. Please help us by supporting this vitally important research to advance the health of Golden Retrievers and dogs everywhere by contributing to Khloe's Fund and sharing this page with your friends and family. Any donation made before December 31st will be matched by the Morris Animal Foundation so your contribution will make TWICE THE IMPACT!
