Who should I make my check out to?

In the memo line of the check or in an accompanying note, please indicate the participant or campaign to whom the donation should be credited.
Do all donors who mail their donations receive a receipt?
Any donor who mails their donation of $10.00 or more and provides an address will receive a receipt via mail once the donation has been processed. If you made your donation in monthly installments, you will receive an annual receipt each January showing all monthly payment from the previous year.
How do I find a participant's personal fundraising webpage?
Click on the home page and begin typing the first or last name. Your options will display as you type.
How quickly can I expect an online donation to post to a participant's fundraising account?
Any donation made online should post immediately. If an online donation does not post within 5 minutes, please
contact us.
Do all donors who contribute online receive a receipt?
Yes, anyone who donates online, regardless of the amount, will receive a receipt via email.
What happens if I check the checkbox to "cover processing fees"?
If you check this checkbox, you will be charged the amount indicated next to the checkbox. This amount will also be visible to Morris Animal Foundation. However, on the fundraising page, only your initial donation amount will be displayed without the additional fee coverage.

For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, will the amount entered be in U.S. dollars?
Yes. For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, the amount entered in the online donation form will be in U.S. dollars.
Can I make a donation to a team?
Yes. You can make a donation to a fundraiser on a team or you can make a general team donation.
How do I add a dedication when I make a donation?
When you make a donation online, you can designate what you want to appear as your recognition name on the participant's Honor Roll. This may be your name, or it could be something such as "From the whole Wolf family" or "in memory of Aunt Cathy."
How is Morris Animal Foundation funded?
Dr. Mark L. Morris Sr. was a visionary veterinarian who foresaw the need for dedicated scientific research if veterinary medicine was to advance. When Dr. Morris developed the kidney disease diet – the first prescription diet in veterinary history – royalties from sales where used to establish the Foundation’s endowment.
Morris Animal Foundation currently is funded by public support – from individuals, corporations, breed clubs and foundations – as well as earnings on our endowed funds.
Can I donate to a particular study, disease category or species?
What can I do if a check is written out to me personally?
If a donation check has been written out to you personally, you may endorse the back of the check and mail it in to Morris Animal Foundation. Please include on the memo or a small note, what fundraiser or campaign the check should be credited towards.

Can I enter a check online?
You can't enter a check online. What you can do is mail the check to Morris Animal Foundation with the fundraiser or campaign the check is associated with. When Morris Animal Foundation receives the check, the gift processing team will add the gift to your campaign and both yourself and the donor will receive a confirmation email that the donation was applied to your fundraiser. Your fundraising goal will also be updated at that time.
Can I mail in a cash donation?
It is not a good idea to send a cash donation in the mail. We recommend depositing the cash into your checking account and mailing a personal check from your account. Please include on the memo or a small note, what fundraiser or campaign the check should be credited towards.

A donor is requesting a Tax ID number; what is that and how can I get it?
A Tax ID number identifies Morris Animal Foundation as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Many donors will request this number to validate their donation as tax-deductible. The Morris Animal Foundation Tax ID number is 84-6032307.
Not all of my donors are showing up in the Honor Roll. Why?
As your donors make a contribution, they have the option of whether or not they want to appear in the Honor Roll.
Where can I find a list of the people who have donated to me?
Log in with your email and password to visit your headquarters page. Select My Fundraising Report on the left side. You will then find a list of all of your donors as well as a list of all donors to your team.
How can I send a thank you email to my donors?
To easily send thank-you emails to donors, follow these steps:
- Log in to your fundraiser dashboard by clicking the "My HQ" link in the top right
- Click "My Fundraising Report" in the left sidebar
- Locate the donor/donation you'd like to thank, and click "Send Email" (If the donor didn't submit their email address, this option is unavailable.)
- Type the message in the pop-up window, and click "Send Email"
Why am I receiving emails telling me that I've received a donation?
You are receiving these emails because we would like to keep you updated on your fundraising efforts. If you wish to stop receiving these updates, please login to your headquarters and edit your account preferences.
How many people can be part of a team fundraiser?
As long as you have two fundraisers, you have a team!
How do I join a fundraising team?
You can navigate or search for the existing team page
here. Once you find your team, click the "Join" button to register on a team. Additionally, you can join after you register by selecting "Create or Join a Team" in your HQ Tasks.
How can I make one of my teammates a co-captain?
It's easy! Just follow these steps:
1. Log in to your "My HQ"
2. Click on the "My Team Fundraisers" link
3. Click on the "Add as co-captain" link next to the person you wish to add
Why do I need to submit an application?
Morris Animal Foundation needs to approve each potential partner, organization or new event before agreeing to a relationship to ensure it adheres to our organizational guidelines.
As the event organizer, what am I responsible for?
The event organizer shall perform all actions necessary for the successful completion of the event and shall assume full obligation and responsibility for the payment of all expenses in connection therewith, without regard to the amount of funds collected at the event. The Foundation assumes no responsibility for expenses related to this event.
The event organizer agrees to comply with all necessary local or government regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, purchasing insurance, registering with the appropriate agencies, following any rules of disclosure currently required by the IRS and acquiring required licenses or permits.
Will Morris Animal Foundation cover the costs of my event?
Morris Animal Foundation assumes no responsibility for expenses related to this event. The Foundation will only accept the net proceeds of a third-party event. All third-party event expenses are the responsibility of the third-party event organizer and must be paid before net proceeds are given to the Foundation.
Will Morris Animal Foundation provide someone to speak at my event?
The event organizer may request a Morris Animal Foundation representative at the event, however, the Foundation has very limited staff resources and must prioritize which events staff are able to attend. We will consider requests to attend events on a case-by-case basis.
Will Morris Animal Foundation provide educational materials and/or swag for my event?
Morris Animal Foundation does have some educational materials and swag available to event organizers to utilize during there events. Requests for materials will be reviewed and considered after submitting your third-part event application.
What is my personal page URL?
A personal URL is a shortened link to your team or personal page that you can send to friends and family in emails. A personal URL will look like this https://fundraise.morrisanimalfoundation.org/golden-retriever-lifetime-study/ben.
Can a donor add a dedication message that appears in my fundraising honor roll?
When a donor makes a donation online, s/he can enter text to appear on the fundraising honor roll. This may be the donor's name, or it could be something like "From the whole Wolf family" or "In Memory of Aunt Cathy".
