The Maggie & Maya Legacy Fund - Turning Heartbreak into Hope Through Canine Cancer Research
Thank you for visiting The Maggie & Maya Legacy Fund, a fundraising campaign benefiting Morris Animal Foundation, and for taking a moment to learn about two extraordinary dogs who forever changed our lives.
Earlier this year, we experienced every dog owner's worst nightmare. Within just a few weeks, we lost both of our beloved girls—Maggie to disseminated histiocytic sarcoma and Maya to an aggressive illness strongly suspected to be histiocytic sarcoma or hemangiosarcoma. They were more than pets; they were family, our constant companions, and the heart of our home.
Like so many families facing these devastating cancers, we were left with heartbreak, unanswered questions, and a desire to understand whether more could have been done to treat them; to save them. That journey led us to learn more about the critical need for research focused on earlier detection, improved diagnostics, and better treatments for canine cancer.
While we cannot change Maggie and Maya's story, we can help write a different story for the dogs and families who come after them.
Our mission is to support research through the Morris Animal Foundation that advances the understanding and treatment of canine histiocytic sarcoma and hemangiosarcoma—two aggressive cancers that continue to take far too many beloved companions.
Every donation made through this campaign brings us one step closer to that goal. Your support helps fund vital research that offers hope for earlier diagnoses, more effective treatments, and ultimately, better outcomes for dogs facing these diseases.
This fundraiser is more than a memorial.
It is Maggie and Maya's legacy.
It is a promise that their lives will continue to make a difference.
