Climbing to Cure Canine Cancer
29,000'...
On June 13, we received some devastating news that is all too familiar to both us, many of our family and friends, and others around the world - our little boy Brixey was suspected to have an aggressive form of metastatic cancer called adenocarcinoma. The surgical consult two days later confirmed the diagnosis. We were very fortunate to get in the next day for surgery, which went well, but our Brixey will have to go through follow-on therapy (chemo, radiation, etc.) with an oncologist to kill as many of the remaining cancerous cells as possible that might have been left behind.
I decided to create this fundraiser so that I could contribute in some small way to a world where, someday, when dog parents get the news we received recently, they can be comforted in knowing that the disease is curable and the cure is available, and affordable for all. I want to get on top of this disease...and to help do that, in July I'm going to climb to the highest point on earth, symbolizing our collective efforts to summit this terrible disease once and for all. With each climb, I will be recording my progress using my Apple Watch and will report status back here. I will reach 29,000' or more by the end of July. I'm seeking donations to support my climb - the proceeds go to a wonderful organization fighting cancer for animals that was recommended by a friend (who, unfortunately, is also going through a situation with her beloved girl).
With each step, I'll fight for Brixey, Lyra, and all the other babies out there who deserve a long, happy life with their families! I hope you'll help me in the fight, if you're able.
Morris Animal Foundation is a nonprofit organization that funds science to advance the health of animals around the world. Since its founding in 1948, the Foundation has invested over $149 million in more than 2,940 studies that have led to significant breakthroughs in diagnostics, treatments and preventions to benefit animals worldwide. Please help me support advancing the health of animals everywhere by contributing to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your friends and family. Every dollar we raise will advance this great cause!
Ask how you can get involved, and together, we can make a difference in the lives of animals!
